The Designer Dress Series

This Series was a year in the making.  A dream that became reality.  Visions of jaw dropping dresses that needed to come to life.  This wouldn't be possible without the collaboration with Andrea Jones who is a local sewing artist or "sewist", in modern day terms.

When developing this project, the focus for the first designer dress was for it to be a showstopper and to be used in a variety of ways representing a nostalgic moment in time. The beauty of a styled photoshoots representing romance.

You can also feel the romance of our second designer dress. Having been a photographer for many years, I find inspiration in dreamy photoshoots with flowy dresses that photograph so well.  When designing this dress with Andrea, it had to have that in mind.

During the design process of dress three, the series transformed into designing a beautiful dress for someone special.  Every dress has a story as well as the woman behind it.  This dress was made for Lorelei Colbert, a breast cancer survivor, and the inspiration and story behind the dress we named, The Pink Dress.  We proceeded to create an entire event around Lorelei, the dress, and her story.  This event brought the community together in the gardens at Village Pine Venue to unveil the dress, hear Lorelei's story, and bring awareness to this disease that affects so many.

Follow along on this journey between two women with a passion for designing and creating dresses and making a connection within their community.
